Brian's Big Christmas BBQ

Doors Open 2.30pm, Live Music from 3pm

Music Guru Brian Wise has built an amazing community of devoted music souls around his long running 'Off The Record' radio show on 3RRR as well as RHYTHMS Magazine, the roots music bible he founded over 30 years ago. Well it's that time of year again where that flock gathers at Archies Creek to celebrate another big year of music and community. I guess we've all heard Brian bemoaning the absence of home grown Australian music in the local charts. So in an effort to address this situation the focus of this year's annual event will be to shine a light on our own local culture and music .Off The Record sound God Geoff Proctor and gig guide co host Ken McLeish will be supervising the BBQ whilst an illustrious ensemble of singers including Nick Barker, Rebecca Barnard, Mike Rudd, Queenie and Mabel & Ivy from Charm Of Finches will sing from the Australian songbook backed by an all star house band led by the maestro Shane O'Mara.

OPELOUSAS (Opper-loo-sas), is a feast of grit and glory featuring a roux of KERRI SIMPSON’s powerful raw vocals, ALISON FERRIER’s dirty stripped-back electric guitar, amplifed fiddle and smooth vocal tones, peppered with ANTHONY “Shorty” SHORTTE’s swamp-soaked percussion. This powerhouse plays pulsating rhythms from the belly of the blues. Their debut album “Opelousified” won them the 2019 Music Victoria Blues album of the year award. The album co-produced by Jeff Lang who also created film clips for their singles ‘Dear John’’, “James Dean’ and “ Third Jinx Blues”. The resulting gumbo is a tasty treat for audiences far and wide.
